If you have a device that comes equipped with Alexa, you know there are a lot of things she can do for you. From setting an alarm to telling you the weather or even tracking Santa, having Alexa around can be pretty handy.
While she can already (and maybe accidentally) order stuff from Amazon and send it to your house, Alexa can now also help you send gift cards to friends and family. Yes, that means when you forgot to get a birthday gift, you can just have Alexa do the work for you.
As an added bonus, beginning Feb. 10, if you send a gift card via Alexa, you’ll get a $10 Amazon gift card for yourself!
How It Works:
First, just say to your Amazon-connected device, “Alexa, ask GiftJoy to send a gift card.” Then, choose from a variety of restaurants — like Applebee’s, Panera Bread, Starbuck and The Cheesecake Factory — or even some department stores, like Nordstrom.
You’ll then be prompted for order details like your name, the recipient’s name, how much you want the gift card to be worth and when you want it delivered. You can also include a personalized greeting.
After your order is placed, you’ll get a text message with a link to review your order and enter payment details. The recipient of your gift will then get a text message or email with a link to the eGift card, which can be redeemed online or in-store. While gift cards are pretty much already the perfect gift, if your recipient doesn’t like the one you sent, they can even swap it for a different card with no fee!
You then have to do a bit more work to get the $10 gift card reward. You will need to write a review about GiftJoy on Amazon or post about it on social media with #GiftJoy, then send an email to [email protected] with the email address you used to make the purchase, the wording you used in your review or where you posted about GiftJoy on social media.
