When you’re madly in love and also happen to be tennis pro Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, romantic dinners don’t involve takeout and candles. Oh no, they’re far more glamorous than that!

Apparently, Williams was craving Italian food, so her husband decided to get her exactly what she wanted — and more. Instead of simply taking her to a local Italian restaurant or making her pasta for dinner — he flew her to Italy.

At least, that’s what this Instagram post suggests …

He captioned a photo of the pair together on a gondola, Williams sipping a glass of wine: “She wanted Italian for dinner, so…”

All we have to say is bravo, Ohanian, bravo!

Not His First Grand Gesture

This gesture is very impressive, but it’s certainly not the first time Ohanian has gone above and beyond for his lady.

To welcome his wife back to her first tennis tournament after giving birth to their daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., he rented out not one, but four, billboards in California to remind her that she was the “Greatest Momma Of All Time.”

Balancing A Career And Motherhood

This Italian trip served as a treat to the tennis star after her return to Wimbledon since giving birth to her daughter.

She didn’t walk away with the Wimbledon 2018 title, but she did play incredibly well (and hey — she got to go on an Italian vacation afterward, so who’s complaining?).

Williams posted to Instagram, writing about her time at Wimbledon and what’s next — because this athlete and mom’s journey is far from over:

“These past 2 weeks was amazing. It also was a sound for all moms stay home and working you can do it you really can! I’m not any better or diff than any of you all,” she wrote. “Your support has ment [sic] so much to me. Let’s keep making noise everyday in everything we do. I’ll be back (and soon too). Road to the Us Open is next! Stay strong no matter what. Oh and this is just the beginning.”

And considering her daughter and husband are her biggest fans, it’s safe to say she’s got plenty of support and motivation to keep doing what she loves.

Ohanian Sr. seems more than happy to be on “dad duty” while cheering on his wife from the stands, and it doesn’t get sweeter than that.

“Dad duty while Mom worked this weekend,” he captioned a photo of himself and his mini-me:

Although, Williams has been open about the downsides that come along with being a working mom, like missing milestone moments in her daughter’s life (something all working parents can no doubt relate to).

“She took her first steps … I was training and missed it. I cried,” Williams wrote on Twitter.

But, according to Ohanian, he and his family plan to return to Italy for some more quality time: “Venezia made a great first impression on the family,” he wrote on Instagram. “We’ll certainly be back.”
