Shamrock pretzel pops are the perfect St. Patrick’s Day treat

Kitchen Fun With My Three Sons

St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated every year on March 17,  is a fun holiday where everyone gets to pretend they are Irish for the day. One of the iconic symbols of Irish culture, and St. Patrick’s Day itself, is the shamrock. Legend has it that the real St. Patrick used the three-leaved, green plant “to illustrate the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and introduce Christianity to Ireland.”

In addition to using the shamrock to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day, how about getting the family together to make some fun snacks in celebration of the holiday? These shamrock pretzel pops only require a few ingredients, but look fabulous and are a tasty treat everyone will love. And, you won’t need the Luck of the Irish to make them because they’re so simple to put together!

This first recipe, courtesy of Kitchen Fun With My Three Sons, only requires four ingredients. It doesn’t get much simpler than that, right? All you need are two types of pretzels and two kinds of candy. The combination of chocolate, caramel and the salty pretzel will make your mouth feel like you found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

And the best part? These treats take less than 20 minutes to make.

Dancing Through The Rain takes the shamrock pretzel pop to a higher level by staying true to the inspiration’s natural color: green! This recipe only requires five ingredients, so it’s still simple to make, even for the younger kids in the family. The game-changer in this version is using candy melts to coat the pretzels, which gives the snack that classic shamrock green color.

Meanwhile, these shamrock pretzel pops from Dinner 4 Two also look so festive! This recipe opts for just a drizzle of colored frosting instead of full coverage. Plus, it adds back in the chocolate caramel candy center and other chocolate candies.

You will also need to pick up some food coloring, lollipop sticks or decorative straws to complete this snack. But, again, it only takes a few minutes to create. And we bet it takes even less to gobble them up!

And hey, while you’re feeling festive, you might as well check out this recipe that details how to whip up your own homemade, boozy Shamrock Shakes. After all, you’re going to need a drink to wash down those shamrock pretzel pops!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
