Shannen Doherty Says Her Cancer Is In Remission

We’ve been following actress Shannen Doherty’s battle with breast cancer since she announced that she was diagnosed in 2015.

The former “90210” and ‘Charmed” star, who very openly shared the ups and downs of having breast cancer through her Instagram account, posted on April 28, that after nearly two years of battling breast cancer, she is finally in remission.

Though excited about the news, Shannen also knows that the next five years are going to be crucial. Along with the good news about being in remission, she followed it with this.

“As every single one of my fellow cancer family knows, the next five years is crucial. Reoccurrences happen all the time. Many of you have shared that very story with me. So with a heart that is certainly lighter, I wait.”

Since she found out about the diagnosis back in 2015, Doherty’s Instagram has followed her journey and all its up and downs. It really depicts just how much of a rollercoaster ride cancer treatment can be. She now has over 900,000 fellow Instagrammers following her journey.

Just back in November of last year, Doherty was honored with the Courage Award at the American Cancer Society’s Annual Gala in Los Angeles—largely due to her open and honest sharing on the matter.

At the time Doherty told the Press Association, “I’m feeling ridiculously lucky and very blessed. Cancer has changed my life for the better.”

And no doubt her positive attitude and willingness to share has given hope to others battling the disease. Here’s hoping she continues to share more great news about her remission.
