Shannen Doherty’s post-chemotherapy hairstyle is a super cute pixie cut

When Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015, her entire world was turned upside down. From a mastectomy to chemotherapy to radiation, the brave star was battling for her life.

As she told ET at the time, “The unknown is always the scariest part. Is the chemo going to work? Is the radiation going to work? You know, am I going to have to go through this again, or am I going to get secondary cancer? Everything else is manageable. Pain is manageable, you know living without a breast is manageable, it’s the worry of your future and how your future is going to affect the people that you love.”

Sharing Her Journey

Doherty chronicled her battle with the disease via her Instagram account, giving hope and encouragement to fellow cancer patients and inspiring everyone with her raw honesty.

As this post from November 2016 shows, she was never afraid to share her fears:

“Ct scan to do mapping for radiation plan. This scared me so much. Not sure why. Was supposed to get it with contrast but the minute they started looking at which vein to use I started crying. Full panic attack. Sometimes, you just get sick of being poked,” she wrote.

She finished the post by writing: “And that’s ok. I cried. I felt sorry for myself for a minute. Then stopped and reminded myself of how lucky I am. Thank God my new radiation oncologist decided to try without contrast so I would calm down. So…. one panic attack down and mapping done!! Now to actually start radiation… ”

Cancer In Remission

But, finally, after two years of this battle, Doherty has good news: Her cancer is in remission. As she shared on Instagram, “I am blessed, I know that. But for now now…. remission. I’m going to just breathe. #cancerslayer.”

A New ‘Do

As part of her new chapter, Doherty is embracing her hard-won health with a beautiful pixie cut. She lost her gorgeous chestnut locks during her fight with cancer, but as her hair is now growing back, she was finally able to try a new look… and it is simply stunning:

“Yes he gives the best haircuts ever but the real pleasure is just absorbing some of his positive, serene energy,” Doherty wrote. “Thank you @anhcotran for the ‘sexy Parisian’ cut. After two years of either bald or a crew cut, it’s nice to feel a bit more like a woman again.”

She looks like Audrey Hepburn! Short hair really works for her. How great is this photo she shared with her mom at a Stand Up To Cancer event.

Back To Work

And not only is her hair back, but she’s been able to work again. She is on the set of “Heathers,” which is going to be a 10-episode televised reboot of the 1988 cult classic film. Doherty starred in the original movie alongside Christian Slater and Winona Ryder, and a remake just would not have been the same without her.

It’s so wonderful to see Doherty healthy and working once again, and her bravery and strength have brought inspiration to many women who are facing the same tough battle. She’s truly a stunning warrior, whether she’s rocking a pixie, a shaved head or her once-signature long locks.
