Shawn Johnson And Husband Share Emotional Video Revealing Miscarriage

Shawn Johnson and her husband, NFL player Andrew East, are coping with some heartbreaking news about expanding their family. Just days after finding out Johnson was unexpectedly pregnant, the former gymnast experienced a miscarriage.

The couple caught every single moment on camera, from when the pregnancy test turned positive to when they discovered she had miscarried.

The pregnancy became troublesome when Johnson East, 25, started to experience severe stomach pains and bleeding. Hours later, she learned she was miscarrying.

A video of the couple’s experience was posted to YouTube on Oct. 21, and it has since been viewed over one million times.

The video’s description reads:

“The past 48 hours have been some of the happiest, scariest, and saddest times of my life. My husband Andrew and I found out that we were unexpectedly pregnant, only to find out hours later some tragic news. I have been crying more than I ever have, but am still optimistic for what is next.”

Johnson East’s doctor assured the couple that miscarriages are not rare. In fact, according to the American Pregnancy Association, anywhere from 10 to 25 percent of all pregnancies will end in miscarriage.

“We feel like a lot of people go through this so we wanted to share it,” Johnson East said at the beginning of the video. Based on the outpouring of support from the YouTube comments, people appreciate her willingness to share it with her fans.

“So sorry for your loss. The same thing happened to me 9 years ago. One month after my miscarriage I got pregnant again, had a wonderful pregnancy to term and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on April 10, 2009. This is not the end for you. Good luck on your journey,” one fan wrote.

To show their thanks for the outpouring of support, the couple answered questions live on Facebook for people asking about their experience and the grieving process. They also shared that they will keep trying to build a family together.
