Shawn Johnson shared a cute photo of herself wearing her 2008 Olympics leotard while 40 weeks pregnant
Olympic medalist and gymnast Shawn Johnson East is due any day now with her first child. But despite her advanced state of pregnancy, she can still rock the leotard she wore when winning gold for the U.S. team on the women’s balance beam at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Don’t believe us? Here’s Johnson on the medal podium in 2008 sporting her red, white and blue long-sleeved leotard (and that shining gold medal, of course):
And here she is in an Oct. 25 Instagram post wearing the same leotard:
“[F]its a little different these days,” she writes. “But no joke… this babes is already more rewarding than any medal was.”
Johnson East is married to professional football player Andrew East, who also posted a video of his wife wearing her Olympic attire, writing, “honestly @shawnjohnson still looks good in this.”
Shawn gives a big laugh in the above video and says she found the leotard in storage. She also replied to a comment from Chuck Wicks on her original post questioning how the outfit still fit, saying the leotard was made of the “world’s most durable fabric.”
Fellow Olympic gymnastics medalist Kim Zmeskal commented, “Lookin’ good, you two! You should totally walk into the hospital like this!”
The now 27-year-old ex-gymnast won her balance beam gold at the 2008 Olympics, along with three silver medals for the floor exercise, and for the women’s team, all-around. She went on to win “Dancing With the Stars” and now vlogs with husband Andrew (above right).
Johnson East has been open about an early miscarriage with her first child in 2017 and the emotional and physical struggle that came with that. When she became pregnant again, early ultrasounds raised some worries about the baby’s development, though ultimately Baby East has turned out to be healthy.
You can watch a recap of her pregnancy journey in this video on The East Family YouTube channel.
Johnson East was due Oct. 23 but was still pregnant as of Oct. 28. The baby’s gender is not known but he or she is bound to vault into the world any day now.
Good luck as you become first-time parents, Shawn and Andrew!
