Skittles has a hidden, gross flavor in new Halloween packs called ‘Rotten Zombie’

It’s never too early to start thinking about Halloween … or Halloween candy for that matter. Candy companies are already starting to release their new fall treats and, personally, I can’t get enough.

A new take on Skittles is just one of the candies you’ll find hitting store shelves this year. They’re turning the tables, so to speak, on the undead with the launch of new Zombie Skittles. While zombies are known for eating things like human flesh, this Halloween, it’s your turn to feast on something “rotten” if you dare.

Each pack of Zombie Skittles features a mix of five fruity flavors: Petrifying Citrus Punch, Mummified Melon, Boogeyman Blackberry, Chilling Black Cherry and Blood Red Berry. This is Halloween, though, so there is, of course, a trick along with that treats. While all the Skittles in the bag may look typically colorful and innocent, one of them will apparently have a repulsive flavor called Rotten Zombie!

The flavor will only reveal itself after you’ve started to chew and it’s too late to turn back. Skittles says the flavor is “an utterly disgusting taste experience that will elicit strong reactions from anyone and everyone daring enough to try it.”

Sounds … terrifying?

“Our fans love Skittles not just for its delicious fruity flavors, but for the irreverence and sense of humor for which the brand is known,” Rebecca Duke, Skittles senior brand manager, Mars Wrigley U.S., said in a press release. “This Halloween, we wanted to give our fans the ultimate rotten twist on the candy they know and love, challenging them to test their bravery over a bag of Zombie Skittles.”

Looking for more Halloween goodies? While not new, Kit Kat’s pumpkin pie flavor will also return this August and Hershey is also bringing back its glow in the dark wrappers that were new last year, which glow under a black light. Oh, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins will now be stuffed with Reese’s Pieces!

Zombie Skittles will be available nationwide beginning in August in share size for $1.89, lay down bag for $2.49 and fun-size bag for $2.99. Are you brave enough to try them?
