Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ Ribs Are So Easy To Make

An Affair From the Heart

Do you think that low and slow on the grill is the only way to achieve the perfect ribs? Think again. Mouthwatering ribs can actually be prepared in your slow cooker, and the results are just as delicious.

This recipe for slow cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ ribs from An Affair From The Heart requires just three ingredients. It couldn’t be easier for a weeknight meal!

An Affair From the Heart

The ingredients you need are:

  1. Boneless Country Style Pork Ribs
  2. Dr. Pepper Soda (yes, that Dr. Pepper — and the cherry version works too!)
  3. Barbecue Sauce

That’s it! Simply place the ribs in your slow cooker, and pour a can of Dr. Pepper over the top.   Depending on how much time you have, you can cook the ribs on high or low. The tender meat you end up with will rival that of your favorite BBQ joint.

The blogger served her ribs with hash browns, cheesy cornbread drop biscuits and sweet corn for a full Southern-style meal. But you can also feel free to round out your meal with the sides of your choice. These ribs would go great with some coleslaw or potato salad, too.

Not only will the veggies add some fresh color to your plate and add a healthy boost to the dish, but the flavors will transport you back to summer in no time — even if there’s snow on the ground in your neck of the woods.

Surprised that soda and a slow cooker can turn out such a delicious meal? Ribs aren’t the only recipe that utilizes the combo. Check out this Dr. Pepper chili from Spicy Southern Kitchen. Flavored with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and plenty of spices, it packs a bit of a punch, but the sweetness from the soda balances out the heat nicely.

Perfect for a crowd, this would make for a great game-day meal. Serve it with a toppings bar, so people can pick and choose how to customize their bowls.
