These S’mores banana boats look like so much fun to make (And eat!)

Crafty Morning

S’mores are the most epic summer dessert, but that doesn’t mean that this family-friendly dessert cannot be improved upon. In fact, there are so many ways you can take your s’mores to the next level, and this recipe for S’more Banana Boats is just the ticket!

Over at Crafty Morning, Michelle creates a s’mores-inspired banana split with just a handful of ingredients. By splitting open a banana and filling it with goodies like marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate chips, she creates the perfect summer dessert that you can throw on the grill.

You can also make it outside at the campfire, by setting the banana boats (which are tucked safely inside tented foil) near the flames but without letting them catch on fire.

Not near a campfire or grill? No problem. You can cook them in your oven for 5-6 minutes until the s’mores banana boats become melty and ready to eat.

Over at Shockingly Delicious, Dorothy uses a similar technique, except she leaves the peel on her banana which helps to hold everything together and makes clean-up a breeze.

She also tops her s’mores banana splits with pretzel rods instead of graham crackers, but you can use whatever crunchy and sweet topping you like. Think chocolate-covered pretzels, animal crackers or even crushed-up ice cream cones. We think these would also be perfect with some homemade ice cream!

Lauren’s Latest makes this dessert even sweeter with the addition of ice cream. She creates little mini banana boats by cutting her bananas into quarters and broiling marshmallows on top.

She then uses graham crackers and a drizzle of hot fudge to complete the “s’more,” serving it on top of rich vanilla ice cream.

It’s easy to make your own variations of this sweet treat, even if you’re not on a camping trip. Just slice your banana length-wise and let it broil for a few minutes, keeping a close eye on it so it doesn’t burn.

Before popping in the banana, fill it with whatever goodies you desire, whether you want to add chocolate chips, fudge sauce, caramel chips, coconut flakes or other chocolate candies. Top with whipped cream and serve immediately.
