Snickers salad is an easy dessert recipe pretty much everyone will love

There are two things that make me save a recipe when I see it: it’s easy, and it can be used for multiple seasons. While I love a great peppermint dessert around the holidays, I’m much more inclined to try a recipe if I can use it over and over again.

This Snickers salad recipe from Simply Stacie checks all my boxes, as not only is it incredibly easy to make, but it would be great at a spring picnic, summer barbecue, a Halloween party or even as an addition to a work potluck or bridal or baby shower.

The Snickers salad takes just minutes to whip up and calls for only a few ingredients, such as pudding, apples, Cool Whip, caramel and, of course, Snickers. Because it has all the makings of a great summer dessert, but also the fall flavors of caramel and apples, Snickers salad is as versatile as it is easy.

While you can make the salad ahead of time, it’s best served cold on the same day you make it. You can choose any apples you wish, but Granny Smiths may work best because they are tart and crunchy. You can see the full recipe at Simply Stacie.

If you’d like to add even more goodies to the mix, you can include everything from grapes to mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, peanuts, toffee bits or crushed pretzels.

You could also try a mixture of toppings, like Fannie Mae’s S’mores Snack Mix or Nestle Toll House’s new pumpkin spice latte-flavored Morsels & More, which includes an assortment of white morsels, mini coffee biscuits and pumpkin spice-flavored chunks.

Snickers salad’s origins are in the upper Midwest, according to Atlas Obscura, where the recipe is sometimes seen in church cookbooks. And there are many variations on this classic salad.

Betty Crocker has their own version, which they call Snickers apple pie dip. Betty Crocker suggests dunking apples in it instead of including them in the salad itself. Instead of chopped-up apples, they add apple pie filling to the mix, but the rest of the recipe is the same.

Snickers Salad and Other Dessert Salads

There are a few similar dessert salad recipes out there as well. Pistachio fluff is a classic, combining Cool Whip, marshmallows, pineapple and pistachio pudding mix.

Also known as watergate salad, it’s often served at picnics and barbecues, but it also makes a great addition to Christmas dinner because of it’s bright green color, and if you choose to cherries, red and green colors! You could also use cranberries instead of pistachios to make a festive red cranberry fluff salad that will really invoke the flavors of the holiday season.

Similar to these fluff salads, ambrosia salad combines pineapple, coconut, whipped topping, marshmallows and sometimes cherries, nuts or mandarin oranges.

This recipe for ambrosia pie tastes just like the salad but has a graham cracker crust. It’s as easy as simply making the salad like you normally would, then spooning it into a pre-made graham cracker pie crust.
