Soccer star Abby Wambach marries Christian mommy blogger Glennon Doyle Melton

Former U.S. soccer player Abby Wambach just married Christian mommy blogger Glennon Doyle Melton, and their wedding could not have been cuter! After announcing their engagement in November of 2016, the couple tied the knot this weekend.

Melton, 41, shared a picture of the couple on their wedding day this past Sunday. Wambach, 36, looked sleek and sharp in a red velvet suit jacket, while Melton wore a gorgeous silver jeweled dress.

This is a second marriage for both women. Wambach divorced former soccer player Sarah Huffman in October, after being married for three years. Likewise, Melton split from her husband Craig Melton last summer. Melton had chronicled their marital issues in her 2016 memoir “Love Warrior,” before their official split.

Melton, who is famous for her religion-tinged parenting blog Momastery, has been famously open about her struggles. In “Love Warrior,” she frankly discusses her issues with eating disorders, substance abuse, infidelity and more. Throughout it all, however, she remained at the forefront of the Christian parenting blogosphere…so when she announced her relationship with Wambach, it sent shock waves through the community.

In her original Facebook post disclosing the relationship, Melton talked extensively about how her ex-husband and children had processed her new relationship, and had only good things to say about their reactions, and about her new girlfriend.

“I learn from her everyday about the woman I want to become. She is committed to her friends and family. She has this sense of country and honor and chivalry that feels beautiful to me,” Melton wrote in the post. “She cares about the vulnerable – children and animals especially. She’s unwaveringly good to Craig, to the kids, to Sister and to all my people. And oh my God, she is so good to me. She loves me for all the things I’ve always wanted to be loved for. She’s just my favorite. My person.”

The pair has chronicled their relationship online, sharing adorable photos on their respective Instagram pages and through Melton’s Facebook. Though there’s no word yet on where the happy couple will be honeymooning, we wish them a lifetime of happiness. And for Melton’s three children, hopefully some free soccer coaching!
