Southwest flew a woman’s bridesmaid dress to Costa Rica after she forgot it

Being a bridesmaid comes with some serious responsibilities. On the big day, you want to look your best. When it comes to destination weddings, that means you have to bring everything you need to look flawless, including your shoes, makeup, hair care supplies and, of course, the dress. Which is why, when one woman forgot to pack the all-important bridesmaid dress she was supposed to wear for her sister’s wedding in Costa Rica, she was understandably upset. Luckily, Southwest Airlines came to the rescue.

It all started when Taylor Kenney took to Twitter to explain the situation to the airline in the hopes that they could rectify it. On Feb. 28, just two days before the nuptials were scheduled to go down on March 2, she pleaded with the airline to get the dress there in time:

“@SouthwestAir help!!” she tweeted, tagging the airline. “My friend is in a wedding on Saturday in Costa Rica but she left her bridesmaid dress here in Houston! Can we get her dress on flight #1734 tomorrow??? #WorthATry #BestCustomerService.”

Southwest replied shortly and confirmed that they could make it happen:

“We like where your head’s at,” they told the bridesmaid’s helpful friend. “Mind sending us a DM with her info?”

Of course, Kenney obliged, and from there, a plan was set in motion.

The situation quickly caught the attention of the Twitterverse, and when Twitter user @PhillipPRandel followed up to see if it had worked out, Kenney confirmed that the dress was Costa Rica-bound via Southwest:

“The dress flies out tomorrow morning! Now that is some customer service!” she wrote.

Later, she updated everyone by letting them know that yet another friend had dropped off the dress at Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas. A representative from Southwest was ready and waiting to make sure the frock made it on the plane:

“Our social team jumped into action and coordinated with our local Houston Team to meet a friend of the bridesmaid in time to get the dress on a flight to Costa Rica today,” Southwest told USA Today in a statement. “This bridesmaid’s story has a happy ending, and we’re thrilled to play a part in making this special day a success.”

Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived when Southwest tweeted that the dress had finally been reunited with the bridesmaid:

“Ladies and gentlemen, it has arrived,” they wrote alongside some photos of the bridesmaid seeing the dress, happily clutching it and finally posing with a few others for a celebration shot. “Operation #RESCUETHEDRESS: COMPLETE!”
