The Spice Girls Confirm They’re Getting Back Together
In the ’90s, one girl group reigned supreme: The Spice Girls. It’s been 22 years since their hit single “Wannabe” was all over the radio spreading girl power around the world. After two decades of pursuing their own projects (and briefly reuniting to perform at the 2012 Olympics in London!), the group announced that they will reunite to explore “new opportunities” together.
It all began when Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) posted a photograph of the five women together on Instagram.
“Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x #friendshipneverends #girlpower,” Beckham captioned the photo of herself along with her fellow bandmates Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice).

Naturally, nostalgia-obsessed fans went crazy in the comments section, with some speculating that the photo meant that the group might have a professional reunion in the works as well:
“Brilliant if there’s a tour in Scotland, would love that,” read one comment.
“Oh my God, welcome back all of you, sending much love to you all, my kids idolised you when they where growing up,” said another.
Later, each of the other members also posted the photo, writing captions that further fanned the flames of a rumored return to the spotlight.
Halliwell wrote: “Lovely seeing all the girls #girlpower is alive and well.”
Bunton took it one step further, captioning her photo, “Great catch up with my girls! #bffs always ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the future is looking spicy!”
Brown thanked her fellow Spice Girls for the impact they’ve had on her life:
“These amazing women have helped me become who I am, so to all the girls out there remember ‘friendship never ever ends’!!!! Boom #spicegirls #coloursoftheword#wantwereallyreallywant #mumsworkinghard#blastoff🚀”
Last but not least, Chisholm also posted the photo and apologized for her tardiness, writing:
“As usual, I’m a bit late to the party! Some of you may have seen this photo doing the rounds today… #girlpower2018@emmaleebunton @victoriabeckham@therealgerihalliwell @officialmelb ❤️Love y’all”
Once tongues were properly wagging with anticipation, the group released an official statement, confirming that they are indeed working together again:

“The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations,” the statement read in part.
This is hugely exciting news for fans of the Spice Girls from the ’90s, as well as anyone who wants to introduce girl power to a younger generation. We can’t wait to see what the group has in store!
