Starbucks Has a New Witch’s Brew Frappuccino

Move over pumpkin spice — it’s officially the season of the witch. Sure, fall still means pumpkins, but with Halloween less than a week away, it’s time for it to take a backseat. While Starbucks isn’t quite doing away with the PSL just yet, the coffee chain is bringing us a new drink just in time for the witching hour to begin.

Starbucks’ new Witch’s Brew Frappuccino features a pinch of toad’s breath, a dash of bat warts and a sprinkle of lizard scale. Just kidding!

The new drink is actually a purple blend of “toad’s breath” which tastes like orange crème frappuccino, plus a swirl of green “bat warts,” made of chia seeds. It is then topped with vanilla whipped cream and a dusting of green “lizard scale” powder (which some are suggesting is matcha powder). Sounds wicked good!

“We wanted to create a flavor that you might enjoy at a Halloween party,” Jennica Robinson, from Starbucks’ beverage development team, said in a press release. “It gets a little bit of juicy-ness from the orange flavor.”

The new Witch’s Brew Frappuccino is now available in participating Starbucks locations for a limited time, alongside some other new treats like a mummy cake pop and a raccoon sugar cookie, which Starbucks recently featured in an Instagram post:

This is not the first time Starbucks celebrated Halloween with an original frappuccino, as the Franken Frappuccino first came to life in 2014, followed by the Frappula Frappuccino in 2015 and 2016 and the Zombie Frappuccino in 2017.

Witches definitely seem to be the hit this Halloween, however, especially with “Hocus Pocus” and the Sanderson Sisters celebrating their 25th anniversary. Yankee Candle has even gotten in on the witch trend, releasing a Witches’ Brew candle that is said to have a spicy, sweet aroma.

Will you be trying the Witch’s Brew Frappuccino just in time for Halloween?
