The New Magenta Drink at Starbucks Is the Prettiest Way to Cool Off This Summer

Starbucks

There’s a gorgeous new drink at Starbucks, and it’s pretty magenta hue will make even the Pink Drink green with envy.

The Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refreshers® beverage is made with red-fleshed dragonfruit, which is shaken into the beverage along with sweet mango. Dragonfruit, also known as pitaya, is native to Central America and Mexico, and it has a unique flavor — some have described it as the union between a kiwi and a pear.

Whatever the case, it certainly makes for a brilliant magenta beverage!

“People love both the flavor and the color,” said the creator of the drink, Alicia Binion from Starbucks‘ research and development. “It’s bright and vivid, something you would want to take a picture of to share with friends.”

You can ask for your Mango Dragonfruit Refresher® with coconut milk, which will make the drink creamy and rich. Or you can order a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Starbucks Refreshers® Beverage, which is also made with sweet mango and dragonfruit — and an added twist of vibrant lemonade. Yum!

If you are watching calories, this fruity pick-me-up won’t damage your diet. A venti iced Mango Dragonfruit Refresher® is only 130 calories, so no need to feel guilty indulging.

This magenta drink is just one of many items on the new “Afternoon Made” menu. And if you share an image of your drink on Instagram with the hashtag #AfternoonMade, you could end up Insta-famous! Every Friday from now until July 13, Starbucks will choose certain Instagram users’ #AfternoonMade images and feature them on the company’s Instagram stories.

If magenta isn’t your color, consider trying some of Starbucks’ other picture-perfect colorful drinks, like the Violet Drink (made with Very Berry Hibiscus Starbucks Refreshers™ Beverage and coconut milk) or the Ombré Pink Drink (made with Cool Lime Starbucks Refreshers™ Beverage, coconut milk and Teavana® Shaken Iced Passion Tango™ Tea). The result? A beverage that’s almost too pretty to drink!
