Starbucks Is Now Serving Ice Cream Drinks At 100 Locations

Is there anything better than a fantastic cup of coffee? Iced coffee—maybe. But we’ll do you one better. Or rather, Starbucks will.

The coffee chain began serving ice cream drinks at more than 100 stores in the U.S. in February. That’s right—ice cream. With your coffee.

The Roastery Affogato menu features a selection of affogato drinks. Affogato is an Italian treat created by pouring a shot of espresso on top of a scoop of ice cream. In addition to affogato, Starbucks will also offer cold brew floats and cold brew malts. Dreams really do come true!

These ice cream drinks first debuted in 2016 at the Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle. They eventually became among the top five beverages ordered, prompting Starbucks to roll them out to more reserve coffee bars in the U.S. Now, a slightly less expensive affogato menu can be found at 100 locations in Orange County, California.

These California locations won’t use small-lot brews, meaning the drinks won’t be as expensive as the fancier ones at the Reserve bar locations. The most expensive on the menu is the $6.40 cold brew malt with chocolate bitters.

The drinks at the California locations include:

• Classic Espresso Affogato: Two shots of espresso poured over vanilla ice cream
• Starbucks Narino 70 Cold Brew Float: Cold brew poured over vanilla ice cream
• Starbucks Narino 70 Cold Brew Malt: Cold brew blended with ice cream, malt and chocolate bitters

There’s no word yet on if this ice cream menu will roll out nationwide, but we’re guessing if Orange County residents like it, we’ll surely see it at other locations soon.

While we keep hoping and waiting for these ice cream drinks to land in our hometowns, Starbucks did give us a taste of this latest creation last summer with their Affogato-Style Frappuccinos. Those were available across the country and featured vanilla bean, caramel and mocha.

Perhaps they will make a return while we wait for the full Affogato menu to roll out nationwide?
