Stars React To Actor Burt Reynolds’ Death

Longtime Hollywood leading man Burt Reynolds has died at the age of 82. The actor rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s with roles in films such as “Deliverance,” “Smokey and the Bandit,” “The Longest Yard” and “Semi-Tough.” He earned an Oscar nomination for his role playing pornography director Jack Horner in 1997’s “Boogie Nights.”

Although he achieved a lot of commercial success, his career was marked by ups and downs, and he was often plagued by poor critical reception. However, he often struck a self-effacing and humorous tone when speaking about himself and his career to the press. He continued to act into his old age, and his latest film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” is currently filming and slated to premiere in 2019. It is unknown whether Reynolds had begun to shoot scenes.

Considered a major heartthrob in his day, Reynolds’ love life was often a topic of interest among his fans and the media. Earlier this year, he said that Sally Field, his co-star in “Smokey and the Bandit,” whom he dated for five years after meeting her on-set, was the true love of his life. He was married to English actress Judy Carne from 1963 to 1965 and actress Loni Anderson from 1988 to 1993.

In the wake of his death, many of his colleagues in Hollywood have taken to social media to pay tribute to the legendary actor.

Kate Hudson, whose mom, Goldie Hawn, had a longtime personal and professional relationship with Reynolds, shared a photo of herself as a child alongside a smiling Hawn and Reynolds. She captioned it simply with a broken heart emoji:
