Calling all Harry Potter fans: You can now stay in Hagrid’s hut

When the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in Universal Orlando nearly a decade ago, Harry Potter fans everywhere were ecstatic. Over the years, however, the magical allure has diminished a bit. After all, what more can you do after you’ve already sipped butter beers, wandered Diagon Alley and explored Hogsmeade?

A family farm in North Yorkshire has the answer. There, they created a cottage fit for Hagrid and opened it up to visitors. You can book the Ground Keeper’s Cottage and bring along your whole family to enjoy a magical night or two.

The Ground Keeper’s Cottage sleeps up to six guests. It’s set up to most comfortably host up to four adults and two children. The wooden floors, arched doorways and domed ceiling add to the cozy feel.

Holiday With Hagrid

The living room includes a fireplace and comfortable seating, including one pull-out couch. There is one bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunk beds.

The bathroom might be the most magical room in the cottage. The emerald green tiled walls surround a shimmering copper bathtub with a sink, toilet and shower nearby.

The cottage has its own kitchen, so you can bring your own ingredients to cook up magical meals in the combination oven, the kettle and the toaster.

The cottage windows open up to views of both the sea and the rolling hills in the surrounding countryside. It’s truly an enchanting stay even though you don’t actually look out over Hogwarts.

What you do have around the cabin is a variety of farm animals. There are free-range hens, peacocks, chickens, miniature ponies, horses and goats.

With so much going on around the cottage, it’s no surprise nightly rates hover around $400.

Fantasy Farm

Owners Carol and Karl have worked hard to restore the farm, transforming it into the North Shire Holiday retreat. They have five children and envisioned it as a place where children of all ages can let their imaginations run wild. It’s conveniently located in the North York Moors National Park and near many activities and beautiful sights.

Alongside the Ground Keeper’s Cottage, there are other magical accommodations. You can choose from among the Shire House (seen below), Story Book Cottage, Mad Hatters Hut, Unicorn Hut and more.

There are also camping sites in and around the farm for a more budget-friendly holiday. There’s something to suit everyone, allowing you to enter your favorite fantasy world, even if only for a night.

Don’t forget to pack your wand and broom. You never know what creatures could show up around Hagrid’s hut!

This isn’t the only Hagrid-inspired creation to pop up recently. Earlier this year, Universal Orlando announced the opening of its new ride at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Dubbed Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, the new ride promises to be an unforgettable experience. According to the description in Universal Orlando’s announcement, visitors will get to “fly far beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the paths of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creature.”

You can check out a look at the new ride in the promotional image below, which shows Hagrid on his motorbike with a sidecar. The giant but lovable character leads a line of similar carriages behind him. From the looks of the picture, he seems to be flying into the Forbidden Forest, with an impish pixie floating nearby. Meanwhile, Hogwarts can also be seen glistening on the hilltop behind the riders.
