You can stay in an Airbnb shaped like a ‘Hobbit hole’ for $100 a night

Airbnb

Listen up, “The Lord of the Ringsfans, we’ve scouted out a fantastic Hobbit hideout for you in the Irish countryside and you can stay there for around $100 a night.

The Airbnb rental in County Donegal, which is in northern Ireland, is known as the “Cropod.” The listing describes the rental as a “contemporary mountain pod inspired by Irish archaeology.”

The dome-shaped pod that looks like it was dreamed up by J.R.R. Tolkien himself has a large window to show off the rolling green hills and nearby lake. Guests here are also close to a secluded beach along the Atlantic Ocean and can go hiking nearby.

Inside, the rental has plenty of comfortable amenities, including a full-sized bed, an oven, fridge, television with a DVD library, indoor plumbing, Wi-Fi access and heating. A picnic table outside provides the views. The Cropod can comfortably house two people for breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper and many other Hobbit-friendly activities.

The Airbnb rental landed on the “Irish Independent’s” list of best places to stay in Ireland, and writers gave this gem of a description: “The Cropod is the perfect hobbit-hole, complete with grass roof frequently trampled over by sheep.” The underground Airbnb rental also landed on the Irish Times’ list of 50 Amazing Places to Stay Around Ireland, which questioned: “Who in their right mind doesn’t want to spend the night in a hobbit house?”

Airbnb reviews rave about how secluded and idyllic the Cropod is, and suggest it as a place to escape and unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life.

If you’ve got some Middle Earth-esque wanderlust but can’t make it all the way to Ireland, there’s also a tiny home hotel village known as WeeCasa in Lyons, Colorado (which is just outside of Boulder) that has themed rooms, including an adorable “Gnome Home.” (It was previously dubbed the “Hobbit House”). The cozy, woodsy 170-square-foot home with earthy accents has a circular entrance and rates start at $159 a night.

Other Hobbit-style Airbnbs closer to home include the Hobbit’s Dream in Fairfax, Va. for $159 a night, a fantasy dwelling near San Diego, Calif. that costs $259 a night and the Underground Hygge in Orondo, Wash. for $250 a night.

Would you stay in a Hobbit-inspired house?
