Music legend Stevie Wonder just released new music and has also formed his own label. The chart-topping artist signed with Motown Records when he was just 11 years old, but his two new singles are his first songs to be released on So What The Fuss Music, the name of which was inspired by his 2005 collaboration with Prince. The songs will be distributed by the Universal-owned Republic Records.

“Where Is Our Love Song” and “Can’t Put It in the Hands of Fate” may eventually be included on an EP with tracks from other artists as well — or, alternatively, his long-awaited album called “Through the Eyes of Wonder.” The songs are his first new releases in 15 years, except for “Faith” with Ariana Grande for the movie “Sing” in 2016.

Although he has struck out on his own, Wonder doesn’t plan on completely cutting ties with his longtime label.

“Even if I’ve left Motown, I never leave Motown,” he said during a virtual press conference. “That’s Detroit. So I’m sure that we can figure out a way to do some things at Motown. Maybe I’ll do my ‘Gospel Inspired by Lula’ with Motown. We’ll work it out.

Wonder began working on the melody for “Where Is Our Love Song” when he was just 18, and he just came up with the lyrics in 2020. Proceeds from the song will benefit Feeding America.

You can hear the song on YouTube from Stevie Wonder’s official site. It includes vocals from five of his children:

“I was thinking about where we are in the world,” Wonder said of writing the second new track, “Can’t Put It in the Hands of Fate.” “And I was thinking about how this is the most crucial time. Not just Black people or people of color but young people everywhere are going, ‘This is not acceptable.’ Change is right now. We can’t put it in the hands of fate. Ain’t nobody got time to wait.”

The track includes appearances from some guest stars, including Rapsody and Busta Rhymes. Here it is the official song from YouTube:

With decades in the music business, Wonder has no plans of stopping anytime soon. He says he feels even younger than his 70 years, despite having had a kidney transplant last winter.

“I told my daughter Aisha, ‘I’m going to be five years younger than you now,'” he said. “I’m going from being 70 to being 40. I feel about 40 now. I thank everyone for their prayers and their love, and I’m feeling great.”
