You’ll Soon Be Able To Buy Strawberry Rice Krispies Cereal

Kellogg's

Growing up, I loved Rice Krispies. The simple cereal is famous for its snap, crackle and pop noise and is the basis for Rice Krispie Treats, quite possibly the best snack made from cereal (though Muddy Buddies are a close runner-up, if you ask me). Cocoa Krispies are a great twist on the original for those who love all things chocolate, and soon strawberry aficionados will be able to get their fix with the cereal with the introduction of Strawberry Krispies.

Kellogg’s confirmed that the new flavor will be available nationwide in January 2019 and will come in 11.5-ounce and 16.5-ounce boxes. The suggested prices are $3.99 and $5.69. Here’s what the box will look like:

The new cereal “delivers on one of fans’ top flavor preferences with a simply, naturally-inspired strawberry flavor that perfectly complements the iconic cereal that snaps, crackles and pops,” according to Kellogg’s.

Of course, the cereal is pink, so it will make for some beautiful rose-hued milk when you finish a bowl.

Strawberry Krispies sound like they will be delicious and Instagram-worthy all on their own, but I imagine that Strawberry Krispie Treats would be an amazing pink dessert that would be perfect for Valentine’s Day as well — hence the January release date, perhaps? They’d also make a pretty and tasty topping for some vanilla frozen yogurt.

Strawberry Krispies are the first new flavor of Rice Krispies to be introduced in more than a decade, but it’s not the first time cereal has tried out a version of this flavor, having released a strawberry flavor in 1983 and again in 2007. The latest iteration is closer to the 1983 version; the 2007 edition was simply plain Rice Krispies with added strawberry pieces, rather than the cereal being strawberry-flavored. Hopefully, the third time’s a charm, and Strawberry Krispies will be a new addition to the lineup that’s here to stay.

Are you excited to give Strawberry Krispies a try?
