Where To Stream Your Favorite Christmas Movies

Here's what's on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime and more.

There’s no better way to get in the seasonal spirit than with a Christmas movie. Luckily, you don’t even have to have cable or spend extra on a rental to watch one. There are plenty of options available to stream on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO Go and HBO Now, if you have a subscription.

Not sure where to start? Check out where you can stream some of your favorite holiday films below. No matter which service you have, you’re sure to find a flick that will have you feeling festive in no time.

And if you find you don’t have a subscription to one of these streaming services, you can always go old-school and buy the DVD or Blu-Ray version.

‘Miracle on 34th Street’

Stream It On: Hulu

The 1947 quintessential holiday film gets a ‘90s remake. In this updated take from John Hughes, a skeptical young girl and a lawyer must prove that a man claiming to be Santa Claus is the real deal.

‘White Christmas’

Stream It On: Netflix

This classic holiday musical from 1954 stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. The film follows a pair of war veterans who fall in love with two sisters and follow them to a resort owned by their former commanding officer. The movie earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for the track “Count Your Blessings (Instead of Sheep).”

‘Love Actually’

Stream It On: Netflix

The romantic comedy-turned-Christmas favorite tells 10 intertwining love stories, all set in London. The movie follows an ensemble of characters as they cross paths in the days leading up to Christmas Eve. It features an A-list cast, including Colin Firth, Laura Linney, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson and Keira Knightley.

‘Jack Frost’

Stream It On: HBO Go

This 1998 fantasy-comedy stars Michael Keaton as Jack, a Colorado musician who gives son a special harmonica as a present shortly before he dies in a car accident. After his death, the harmonica becomes more than an instrument — it’s a tool that brings Jack back to life as a snowman. Kelly Preston and Joseph Cross round out the cast.

‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’

Stream It On: Hulu

Relive this 1993 animated Tim Burton creation, chronicling the story of Jack Skellington, aka The King of Halloween Town. After stumbling through a portal, he discovers Christmas Town and decides to celebrate the holiday, even if he doesn’t quite get the concept.

‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’

Stream It On: Netflix

Jim Carrey brings Dr. Seuss’ iconic character to life in this 2000 holiday hit. Just as in the classic book, the movie follows the Grinch as he devises a plan to rob Whoville of Christmas. But some kindness from little Cindy Lou Who may be enough to give him a change of heart.

‘It’s A Wonderful Life’

Stream It On: Amazon

You can’t go wrong with this Oscar-nominated Christmas classic, widely considered one of the best films of all time. James Stewart stars as George Bailey, a man who spends one Christmas Eve wishing he had never been born. An angel hears his wish and makes it come true to show George how many lives he has changed and impacted.

Spend Christmas with TV’s famous family, the Bradys. In this 2005 flick, the entire Brady clan gets ready to spend a happy holiday together — but not without having to overcome a few personal obstacles first.

‘Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas’

Stream It On: Netflix

Kids can follow Mickey through three charming Christmas adventures in this 1999 compilation film. “The Gift of the Magi,” “Duck Tales” and “A Very Goofy Christmas” feature the iconic mouse alongside some other favorite Disney characters, including Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and others. Kelsey Grammer serves as a narrator for each segment.

Looking for a holiday flick with a naughty side? Look no further than this 2003 comedy starring Billy Bob Thornton as a miserable conman who poses as Santa to rob department stores. His plan runs into problems when he ends up befriending a troubled kid.

Learn how Elmo’s ancestors  — and those of Grover, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Oscar the Grouch and Cookie Monster — helped transform one of the most unfriendly streets in the city into the happy, music-filled place we now know and love.

The beloved Christmas musical, based on the classic Tchaikovsky ballet, follows a young woman who awakens in a dream realm where toys are larger than life. Her beloved Nutcracker comes to life and defends her from the villainous Mouse King. Jessica Lynn Cohen and Macaulay Culkin star, while Kevin Kline narrates.

‘Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas’

Disney fans young and old will love this 2004 sequel to “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas.” The animated holiday feature follows your favorite characters, including Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and all of their friends, as they celebrate the spirit of the season. Meanwhile, Scrooge McDuck continues to “bah-humbug” the festivities.

Jack Black voices the character of Po in this holiday take on the Kung Fu Panda franchise. The animated flick may be a good choice for those seeking a family-friendly option. The movie follows the titular panda as he is caught between his obligations as the Dragon Warrior and his family’s holiday traditions during the Winter Feast.

‘The Christmas Chronicles’

If you don’t feel like revisiting the classics, check out this just-released family-friendly Netflix original Christmas flick starring Kurt Russell as ol’ St. Nick himself. After a pair of siblings accidentally crashes his sleigh, he ends up taking the squabbling duo on an all-night adventure. Stay tuned for a fun cameo at the end.

‘Christmas With The Kranks’

Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis star as grumpy Luther Krank and his sweet wife, Nora, who decide to skip the traditional Christmas festivities one year after their daughter joins the Peace Corps. They forgo the gifts, the tree and all the decorations and instead decide to spend the money on a Caribbean vacation. But when their daughter calls on Christmas Eve and tells them she’s flying back in the next day, the parents must pull out all the stops to make the holiday happen.

In this animated retelling of the Nativity story, a big-dreaming donkey escapes his ordinary existence and becomes friends with some free-spirited animals. The movie features an all-star voice cast, including Steven Yeun, Keegan-Michael Key, Aidy Bryant, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey and Oprah Winfrey.

‘Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas’

Curious George fans will enjoy this 2009 holiday tale starring the beloved children’s character. The movie follows George and the Man in the Yellow Hat as they count down to Christmas. While they prepare for the festivities, they must also decide what present to give each other.

‘Surviving Christmas’

This 2004 film stars Ben Affleck as an advertising executive who gets dumped by his girlfriend right before the holidays. Not wanting to be alone for Christmas, he drives to his childhood home and writes a big check to become a ‘member’ of the Valco family. James Gandolfini, Christina Applegate and Catherine O’Hara round out the cast.

‘Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure’

Watch the lovable St. Bernard, Beethoven, take on a holiday adventure. This 2011 flick follows the pooch as he tries to save the holidays after a wayward elf crashes Santa’s sleigh and loses his bag of toys. Kyle Massey, Munro Chambers and Kim Rhodes star in this family-friendly film, while Tom Arnold voices the character of Beethoven.

‘A Christmas Carol’

There are many adaptations of the Charles Dickens’ classic. If you’re looking for a slightly more contemporary take, watch this 1984 version starring George C. Scott, who delivers a memorable performance as the holiday-hating Ebenezer Scrooge.

Looking for a holiday movie with a side of sci-fi? This 1964 film, which takes place partly on Mars, may do the trick. In the film, a group of Martians kidnaps Santa Claus because their planet has nobody like him to hand out presents.

‘A Christmas Prince’

Stream It On: Netflix

Still have royal fever? This 2017 Netflix original may be the perfect holiday flick for you. It follows an aspiring young journalist after she’s sent abroad to get the scoop on a dashing prince who is set to become king. Rose McIver and Ben Lamb co-star in the movie. Even better, watch the original and then watch the recently released sequel on Netflix: “A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding.”

’12 Dates of Christmas’

Stream It On: Hulu (or buy on Amazon for $5.99)

Groundhog’s Day meets Christmas in this 2011 comedy drama. The movie follows a woman who gets set up on a Christmas Eve date and then must relive the date over and over. Amy Smart and Mark-Paul Gosselaar star.

‘Christmas Cupid’

This 2010 Freeform comedy-drama stars Christina Milian as a hardworking Hollywood PR girl. After her most famous client dies, she reappears as a ghost and takes her on a journey through three of her past relationships. Ashley Benson and Chad Michael Murray co-star.

‘Santa Buddies’

Stream It On: Netflix

This 2009 film is the fourth installment in the “Air Buddies” spin-off series. The North Pole adventure follows a group of rowdy golden retriever puppies on their mission to save Christmas. George Wendt, Christopher Lloyd and Danny Woodburn star in the film.

‘Daddy’s Home 2’

If you liked the original “Daddy’s Home,” you’ll want to check out the holiday-themed sequel. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg return as the now-reformed fathers Brad and Dusty, whose relationship as co-parents to Dusty’s kids is finally going smoothly — until both of their dads come to visit for the holidays.

This 2012 movie centers on a group of brothers and sisters at the center of the large Irish family, the Fitzgeralds. ‘Life-Size 2: A Christmas Eve’

Stream It On: Hulu

If you missed this year’s sequel to the 2000 flick “Life-Size,” don’t panic. The Freeform movie is now available to watch on Hulu. In the film, Tyra Banks returns as the doll Eve. Eva magically awakens to help her now grown-up owner, Grace, rediscover the meaning of Christmas.

‘Trolls Holiday’

Stream It On: Netflix

If you love Dreamworks’ hit “Trolls,” you’ll also enjoy this 2017 holiday special. The movie follows Queen Poppy as she enlists Branch and the Snack Pack for help creating a holiday for Bridget and the other Bergens. Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Zooey Deschanel and the rest of the cast reprise their beloved animated characters from the original film.

‘Tree Man’

Stream It On: Netflix

If you’re more of a documentary person but still want to get into the holiday spirit of things, check out “Tree Man.” The film follows entrepreneurs from Vermont and Quebec as they sell Christmas trees on the streets of New York. Their business ends up making them a cherished part of neighborhood family traditions.
