Supermodel Naomi Campbell welcomes first child at 50

Naomi Campbell has welcomed a baby girl at the age of 50!

The supermodel shared an adorable image on Twitter and Instagram of her hand cradling her daughter’s two tiny baby feet, writing in the caption, “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother, So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”

Many of Campbell’s famous friends quickly replied on her social media channels with their congratulations, including fashion designer Marc Jacobs.

“Oh my God!!!!! Today is the day?? How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful Mother you will be. Blessings all around,” he wrote.

Actress Zoe Saldana commented, “oh my goodness congrats lady! What a blessing!!!” while actress Jodie Turner-Smith wrote, “many many many congratulations to you and to your family—the village that will now rally around you and support you in cultivating that little angel!!!! what an incredible blessing!!!”

Shortly after the surprise announcement was made, Campbell appeared in a video on YouTube for her series “No Filter with Naomi,” in which she interviewed fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. Although Campbell didn’t talk about her new baby during the interview, she did mention her in the live chat during the video’s premiere.

“Hello my darlings, thank you so much for the pre birthday wishes …and for my new chapter as a mother I’m honoured and humbled,” she wrote alongside three heart emojis and a praying hands emoji. Campbell’s 51st birthday is on May 22.

Naturally, there’s been much speculation about when, where and how Campbell’s daughter came into the world. For the moment, Campbell is keeping the details private, but she previously talked about her desire to become a mother.

Back in 2017, she told the U.K.’s Evening Standard, “I think about having kids all the time. But now with the advancement of science, I can do it when I want.”

In an interview with Vogue Arabia in 2018, Campbell said, “I’d love to have kids. I don’t discount anything in life. I love kids and always will. When I’m around children, I become a child myself. That’s the little girl I don’t ever want to lose.”
