You can now get a quesadilla stuffed with Kit Kat or Twix bars at Taco Bell

What could be better than a meal or late-night snack of cheesy, spicy, Taco Bell goodness? How about topping it off with some gooey, crunchy, chocolatey dessert? If that sounds awesome, you will be happy to hear that Taco Bell is testing out a new item in its U.S. restaurants. The sweet treat is known as the Chocodilla, and it’s a flour tortilla stuffed with melted Kit Kat or Twix bars.

Although this fast-food confection is a novelty for those of us in the States, Chocodillas (prounounced chock-oh-deeuhz, and not to be confused with Hostess Chocodiles) have been around for a little while. The Kit Kat-loaded goody was added to the menu of Taco Bells in the U.K. in 2016. Prior to that, Brits enjoyed a simpler version made with chocolate chips.

In addition, South America enjoyed both Butterfinger and Baby Ruth Chocodillas. And Taco Bell in the Philippines offered a Nutella-stuffed version. (Clearly, we Americans have been missing out!)

Taco Bell has reportedly been testing the menu items here in the U.S. since Oct. 5. The test will run through mid-November. Depending on how well the treats are received, they may become a permanent addition to the fast-food chain’s U.S. menu.

If you are driving through The Bell anyway, you may want to give them a go. For just a buck apiece, you can’t really go wrong (and you can pair it with a vanilla iced coffee, if you’re looking for a real sugar rush).

Over the years, Taco Bell has tried several new menu items. You may (or may not) remember these discontinued dishes:

  • Seafood Salad: This item had a short run in the 80s.
  • Cinnamon Crispas: The precursor to Cinnamon Twists, a dedicated fan base would love to bring these back.
  • Black Jack Taco: Perhaps it was the black shell that brought on this menu item’s demise.
  • Volcano Taco: It’s fiery red shell paved the way for the Doritos Locos Tacos, but the Lava Sauce stuck around.

Let’s hope Chocodillas don’t meet the same fate at these discontinued Taco Bell items. Because this is one fast-food dessert we’d really like to stick around!
