Leading up to Valentine’s Day, Michaels is giving you a way to spend some extra quality time with the kiddos. On Feb. 9, the arts and crafts supply retailer will host a Slime Your Heart Out event where kids can decorate their own Valentine’s slime.
Michaels will provide all of the supplies you and your kids will need to create a glittery gob of heart confetti-filled slime. And the event is free! The fun runs from 1-3 p.m. local time. So be sure to block out a couple of hours to spend with your kids on that Saturday.
Michaels hosts crafting sessions and other events frequently, so it’s worth checking out their website to see what they’ve got going on. Some of the sessions cost up to $5 per project, usually to cover the materials for something your kid will get to keep. Even with that small fee, it’s a great affordable weekend activity.
How can you find a store near you that’s hosting an event? Simply click “sign up” under the event you’d like to attend and enter your ZIP code. That will allow you to find the closest store offering something fun for the entire family.
And Michaels isn’t the only store that will offer free activities for kids in the upcoming weeks. Home Depot also has some free opportunities for kids to get crafty ahead of Valentine’s Day.
The retailer has an event on Feb. 2 where you and the kids can create a heart-shaped box for holding Valentine’s Day cards, candy and more. Just look at how adorable they are:
The Home Depot website has more information on these events at a store near you.
Mark your calendars and get ready to have some fun crafting with the kids on the weekends!
