It was known for more than 150 years as the most famous toy store in the world. But, for many of us, a trip to the famed FAO Schwarz store in New York City is merely a dream — especially in 2020, with the coronavirus still affecting travel.
Whether you’ve longed to visit the store around Christmastime since you were a child or just wanted to dance on the giant piano mat like Tom Hanks in the movie “Big”, FAO Schwartz is iconic for both children and adults.
This holiday season, however, you don’t need to plan a trip to New York to get your hands on some FAO Schwarz toys. The iconic brand has launched an exclusive 70-piece toy collection that will be available in Target stores nationwide and on Target.com. Even better? Many of the items are under $20 — and yes, there is a giant piano mat! It costs $39.99.
You can shop the collection by age or category, including stuffed animals, STEM, pretend play, creativity and more. Prices range from $9.99 to $150.
Take a look at just a few of the items in the exclusive collection:
FAO Schwarz Classic Motorized Train Set With Unique Train Cars
This 30-piece motorized train set features four unique train cars that go clockwise and counterclockwise, along with realistic sound effects and an LED light-up lamp. It is regularly $59.99, but has a current sale price of $54.99.
FAO Schwarz Ultimate Science Kit
This science kit for $14.99 comes with 17 pieces for four experiments. Create a volcanic eruption, make slime and excavate shiny gemstones. It is best for ages 8 and up.
FAO Schwarz 3-in-1 Tabletop Art Easel

If you will be making a trip to New York City, you’ll find the 70-piece collection at the FAO Schwarz store as well, along with more than 300 Target items from the retailer’s exclusive brands like Cat & Jack and Pillowfort.
Target is also introducing the largest Bullseye’s Top Toys list ever this year, featuring 50 toys from the hottest brands and including 19 exclusive toys from top brands like Disney, L.O.L. Surprise! and LEGO. The retailer expects to have thousands of toys available this sason, including 600 only-at-Target items from major brands. They’ll also be donating $2 to Toys for Tots for every Top Toy purchased, up to $1 million.
