Skittles’ has five new Valentine’s Day flavors

Valentine’s Day is supposed to be for lovers but, in my opinion, it’s really just for anyone who loves candy. Who wouldn’t love an excuse to sit down and eat a giant, heart-shaped box of chocolates, or a massive bag of candy hearts? Whether you’re single, taken or something in between, February 14 is the best time to indulge your sweet tooth and put those 2018 New Year’s resolutions on hold.

And candy manufacturers know just how to tempt us. Seasonal candies and limited-time-only flavors of our favorite candies beckon to us from store shelves, just begging for us to shower ourselves in a little love…and sweet treats.

Hence Skittles’ latest creation, their new Love Mix. It combines the fruity and juicy flavors of Strawberry, Cherry, Watermelon, Yumberry and White Grape. (If you’re wondering what a Yumberry is, don’t ask me! Perhaps it grows on a Yumberry tree? Skittles has not yet shared this trade secret).

Being the culinary daredevil that I am, I decided to take the Love Mix for a road test. Here’s what I found:

On first taste, I didn’t notice a large difference in the taste of Skittles’ Love Mix versus the taste of Original Skittles. But as I continued to gobble on them, I began to detect strong flavors of grape and watermelon, which definitely set it apart from the originals. The cherry flavor is there, too, another thing that differentiates it from your usual red bag of Skittles.

Overall, I have to say that I loved this new offering! In fact, I prefer this mix to the Original Skittles, as it has less of a sour undertone (which is due to the lemon and lime in the Original flavor), and is instead just sweet goodness. It’s definitely hard to stop eating them once you start!

As you can see, the colors of the Skittles’ Love Mix create such a pretty palette of pinks, reds and whites. It would look so decorative in a few glass bowls for a Valentine’s Day party, or placed in clear goodie bags for your kids to hand out at school.

You can grab an 11 oz. bag of the Skittles Love Mix at Target for $2.69. If you love ’em, be sure to stock up…because this limited-edition item won’t be around forever!
