This Teenager Took A Life-Size Danny DeVito Cut-Out To Prom—And His Response Was Hilariously Unexpected

In the age of elaborate “promposals” and teens opting to take luxury vehicles like Ferraris and Lamborghinis in lieu of classic limousines to the event, one prom-goer in Pennsylvania caught some attention for a different (and hilarious) reason.

Last month, Allison Closs, a then-senior at Carlisle High School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, brought a life-size cardboard cut-out of none other than actor Danny DeVito to her prom. Now, the famous Hollywood star has returned the favor and brought a cardboard cutout of the teen with him to the set of his show, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

Here’s Closs with her “date” in the photo booth the night of the dance:

“A night I’ll never forget,” she captioned the silly photos, in which she and the cut-out don different funny accessories. She also shared a video on her YouTube channel about her experience of bringing cutout DeVito to prom. She notes that she bought the cutout for $100 on Amazon and dressed him up in a tie from her brother’s closet:

On June 5, DeVito’s “Always Sunny” co-star Rob McElhenney took to Instagram to share a few photos — one of Closs going to prom, then a photo of DeVito on set with the cutout of Closs:

“Hey Allison-I heard you took a cardboard Danny to Prom. What a coincidence. He took cardboard Allison to Paddy’s…” he wrote.

Closs responded on Twitter, writing that she was “shooketh”:

She thanked McElhenny and DeVito for fulfilling her “lifelong dream” of visiting Paddy’s Pub, the bar featured on their show:

She also added that it felt “so incredible” to receive a shout-out from her famous idols and made a plea to be invited to the set in person, writing, “The only thing that could make this better would be actually being invited to set!”

What a cute and funny story! Here’s hoping that their friendship doesn’t end with cardboard cutouts on social media, and that Closs gets the opportunity to meet the stars in person.
