Tequila Lollipops Are the Tipsy Treat You Didn’t Know You Needed

Cosmo Bites/Facebook

If you’ve ever thought to yourself: “I wish I could get buzzed while eating a delicious treat at the same time,” have we got news for you.

Tequila lollipops are now a thing, and there’s even better news: they’re easy enough for you to make at home. Do we have your attention yet?

Not only are they delicious, they’re pretty as well (and fun to make — hello, girls’ night in?). The recipe is pretty basic, so you can feel free to add your own flavors as well. Whether it’s crushed-up lime Jolly Ranchers or a more sophisticated take (think sea salt and citrus zest), they’re sure to taste good either way.

You could even try and recreate classic tequila drinks, like a paloma (grapefruit juice and tequila) or tequila sunrise with orange and cherry flavors.

Because the recipe is so simple, it also gives you the opportunity to swap out the tequila for other liquors — personally, I’m very interested in the idea of a gin and tonic lollipop or a dirty Shirley made with vodka and grenadine. Yum!

For the recipe, all you need is corn syrup, water, tequila, food coloring and sugar. Plus, of course, the lollipop sticks which are available at stores like Bed Bath & Beyond or Amazon for less than $10 for 100. You can get the full recipe and all the details from Cosmopolitan, or watch the video below.

Either way, this is a fun and easy project. Wrapped up with a little ribbon in a clear bag, these lollipops would make a great present or a favor at a party—you could even use some peppermint vodka to make them holiday themed! The sky—and the liquor—is the limit.

One word of caution: If you have children at home, and you plan to make and store these, be very careful to clearly label them as adult treats or to hide them away altogether.
