This Is The Best Job In America And Has A Median Salary That’s Over $115,000!

Glassdoor, an online site dedicated to job salaries and company reviews, just released its annual list of the best jobs in America. It scored careers based upon three categories: career opportunities, number of openings for the job, and salary.

Coming in at the top of the list this year: data scientist.  It has a median income of $116,000 and there are over 1,700 positions currently available.

But what exactly is a data scientist?  According to Anjul Bhambhri, vice president of big data products at IBM, a data scientist is someone “who is inquisitive, who can stare at data and spot trends. It’s almost like a Renaissance individual who really wants to learn and bring change to an organization.” With the ever increasing amount of data in the digital world today, there is a growing need to take all of this data and make sense of it.  That’s where the data scientist comes into play.

Here are the top five jobs right now. The overall takeaway for me is that learning computer programming or having a basic understanding of the digital world is the key to higher salaries.
