How many of you read and loved “The Chronicles of Narnia”? The iconic series of seven fantasy novels by C.S. Lewis follows a group of children who are transported to Narnia, a magical world filled with mythical beasts and talking animals. It’s considered a childhood classic and has been adapted many times over for radio, TV, film and the stage. But people can’t help returning to it again and again.

The latest adaptation is set to come to us from Netflix, and it’s the first time the rights to entire series have been held by one company. The announcement about the Netflix adaptation came courtesy of The Chronicles of Narnia Facebook page:

“It is wonderful to know that folks from all over are looking forward to seeing more of Narnia, and that the advances in production and distribution technology have made it possible for us to make Narnian adventures come to life all over the world,” said Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis, in the release. “Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”

It has not yet been announced exactly what form the content will take, but all series and films created through the deal will be produced by Netflix with Mark Gordon of Entertainment One (eOne) alongside Douglas Greshman and Vincent Sieber, who will serve as executive producers for the series and producers for features, according to the press release.

“Narnia is one of those rare properties that spans multiple generations and geographies,” said Gordon. “eOne and I are excited to be collaborating with The C.S. Lewis Company and Netflix who have the capacity to translate the Narnia universe into both stellar feature-length and episodic programming. We cannot wait to get started on the multiple productions we hope to undertake.”

Will you watch “The Chronicles of Narnia” when it comes to Netflix?
