Here is the actor who will play Elvis in the upcoming film about his life
It was no easy choice selecting an actor to play Elvis Presley in an upcoming movie about the King of Rock ‘n Roll’s rise to fame.
Director Baz Luhrmann tested a number of strong actors, including Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Harry Styles (all major heartthrobs!), before landing on Austin Butler. The untitled drama will also star — drumroll please — Tom Hanks as Presley’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

The two are the only actors hired so far for the Elvis Presley project, which begins filming in early 2020 in Queensland, Australia. The movie will follow Presley’s climb to epic stardom against the backdrop of America’s evolving cultural landscape.
So, who is 27-year-old Austin Butler? Aside from a handsome actor who posts Instagram photos of himself boating along the Amalfi Coast, of course.

Butler is known for his standout role opposite Denzel Washington in “The Iceman Cometh,” a play that ran on Broadway in 2018. His first on-screen role was Toby on “Hannah Montana” in 2006.
Soon Butler will be seen in the highly publicized Quentin Tarantino movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” in which he stars alongside Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.
“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” hits theaters nationwide on July 26.
Off-screen, Butler is dating singer and actor Vanessa Hudgens, who posted to Instagram a note of congratulations for her beau when he was chosen for the Elvis Presley movie.
“SO PROUD OF MY HONEYYYYY!!!” she wrote.
Hudgens also recently posted a photo of the couple kissing (again with Austin and boats!):

We’re all shook up with excitement to see Butler play Elvis!
