12 Things Organized People Will Never Understand About Unorganized People

As someone who can’t stand going to bed with a dirty kitchen and who stresses at the sight of any type of pile, there are just certain things I’ll never understand about people who don’t freak out if something isn’t tidy. In a way, I envy them for having such a care-free lifestyle, but I simply cannot live like that.

I sometimes make lists of things I’ve done just so I can check them off. There’s a certain sense of joy that goes along with finishing a to-do list, at least for me. If you’re an organized person, too, I’m sure you can relate.

And if you enjoy color-coding and having a neat space as much as I do, then you’ve likely wondered these 12 things about unorganized people a time or two. Because really, there are just some things we’ll never understand.

To all of the unorganized people out there, I’ve got a few questions for you:

1. Does The Clutter Not Stress You Out?

When you see a pile of clothes on the floor or junk mail stacked on the table. How does that make you feel? Does it really not bother you the way it does me?

2. How Come You Don’t Like To Sort Like Items With Similar Items?

How can you have your paper clips in one drawer and your stapler in another? I couldn’t live that way.

3. You Don’t Think Cleaning Is Fun?

What? Cleaning isn’t fun for you? I don’t particularly enjoy vacuuming, either, but the end result is so worth it.

4. How Long Do You Let Your Dishes Pile Up Before Washing Them?

Dirty dishes in the sink don’t last more than a few hours before causing me major anxiety.

5. You Don’t Care About Being Late?

I hate running late. That’s why I almost never do it. Does it really not bother you?

6. Do You Have A Methodical System For Getting Things Done?

You don’t plan out the tiny details of how you’re going to check off those things on your to-do list? Oh yeah, that’s right. You don’t even have a list, do you?

7. Prioritizing Isn’t Your Favorite Thing To Do?

Ok, so there are a few things you’ve got to get done? Let’s prioritize them in order of importance, you know, just for fun!

8. You Don’t Make Lists? Ok, What About Color Code?

All right, so no lists for you. But, what about color-coding, well, everything? That’s how I spend my time.

9. Does Planning Not Bring You Joy?

I love to make plans. Don’t you? Tell me what you have to do— I’ll sit down and make a plan for you, too.

10. How Do You Ever Find What You’re Going To Wear?

I lay out my outfits the night before. How do you find something to wear when everything’s in a pile on the floor?

11. Or Know What’s Clean/Dirty, For That Matter?

You don’t have a separate place for your dirty laundry? Or a separate pile, at the very least? No. Ok.

12. But, The Biggest Question Of All Is Just… Why?

What all of this boils down to is why? Why do you live this way? Also, how come I can’t? I guess that’s just the price an organized person has to pay. I really can’t help it, and neither can you, I suppose.

Sometimes, I really envy you— but, there’s no time for that, now. I’ve got dusting to do.
