This 4-year-old broke into tears when his stepmother read vows she wrote just for him
Are you the type of person who cries at weddings? So is 4-year-old Gage Newville. This little boy burst into tears at his soon-to-be stepmother and dad’s wedding ceremony.
The little boy couldn’t hold back the tears as the bride, Emily Leehan, read vows she had written especially for him.
“When she started reciting the vows, that’s when the emotion took over and he lost it,” the groom—Gage’s father, Joshua Newville—told ABC News. “The whole day was pretty emotional, so I was just trying to keep myself together and keep him together.”
A video captured the sweet moment and, as you can see, Gage went in for a tearful embrace after his stepmother said, “I want you to be safe and to try your hardest,” she said. “And to be a good person.”
Cue the tears.
“I know that you and I will butt heads,” Leehan went on. “But I hope with all my heart that as you become a grown man you will understand my methods and realize I have only done what is best for you and that I love you.”
As Gage hugged her, she consoled him, “Don’t cry, baby,” she soothed. Stepping into her duties as step-mom already!
She went on to say, “You have helped make me into the woman that I am today, and I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”
Gage cuddled with the couple throughout the ceremony, and by the end of it, Leehan was holding him on her hip, making this the cutest ceremony, well, ever.
The newly married couple are both active in the military. Leehan is a senior airman in the Air Force and Joshua is a sergeant in the Marines.
According to ABC, Gage lives with his new stepmother and his father, but also has, as his father puts it, a “great mother,” Kali Nuckols, who he visits as much as possible.
