How delightful would it be if you could engage in some hummingbird-watching in your own backyard? This latest item from design stars Chip and Joanna Gaines — who are clearly capable of making your home beautiful inside and out — makes it possible.

The pair is now selling Pollinator Push Gardens through their Magnolia store for just $6. The device is fashioned to look like a push-pop ice cream treat, and it contains the seeds and soil needed to plant flowers that will attract hummingbirds, bees and/or butterflies to your yard.

And while it’s no guarantee that more hummingbirds will suddenly appear in your yard, these flowers are more likely to attract them — and they’ll look beautiful, too. That’s a win-win!

The Gaines’ Magnolia Market isn’t the only online store to offer these adorably packaged garden products. You can also find them at retailers such as Uncommon Goods, ModernSprout and Savannah Bee Company.

How Does A Push Garden Work?

Push Gardens are fun and easy to use. Each one comes with the materials and instructions needed to plant a one-square-foot garden. This would be a great activity for kids to help out with, too.

According to the product description, the Hummingbird Push Garden, specifically, comes with the ingredients needed to grow Perennial Lupine, Sweet William Pinks, Rocket Larkspur, Spurred Snapdragon, Wild Bergamot, Lance-Leaved Coreopsis, China Astor and Black-Eyed Susans.

Why Are Pollinators Important?

Not only are hummingbirds pretty to look at, but they also play an important role in our ecosystem, as do bees and butterflies.

According to Pollinator Partnership, pollinating animals transfer pollen between plants, allowing plants to reproduce. In other words, they play an integral role in ensuring the plants that bring us fruits and vegetables and prevent the erosion of soil.

Pollinator Plants Are Becoming Popular

Because keeping bees, butterflies and other pollinators busy is so important, it’s a cause that even the royal family cares about. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry specifically chose pollinator-friendly flowers to decorate St. George’s Chapel for the royal wedding.

Kensington Palace posted to Instagram to announce the use of the pollinator-friendly plants and explain their importance:

Of course, the end result was beautiful:

You can follow the royals’ lead and incorporate beautiful, environmentally friendly plants in your yard, providing a grand entrance to your home — all with the help of Chip and Jo!

When you purchase the Push Garden through the Magnolia website, 10 percent of proceeds are donated to the Pollinator Partnership. In other words, one purchase does double the good for pollinators!
