This Bacon Flavored Seaweed Has “Twice the Nutritional Value of Kale”

Who doesn’t love bacon?  It’s arguably the best meat out there and extremely versatile.   You can eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The only problems with this delicious food are the health concerns associated with it.

Fortunately, there are some great people at Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center that have been experimenting with a form of seaweed called Dulse that provides a taste not unlike bacon and grows along the coasts of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The really interesting news is that the food is packed with vitamins along with tasting delicious. Researchers at Oregon State University say that Dulse is a superfood with “twice the nutritional value of kale”.

We’ll probably have to wait a bit before this shows up at the local supermarket, but OSU is working with the Oregon Department of Agriculture to  investigate ways they can harvest and commercialize this amazing food.
