The “first look” photo has become a popular trend in the wedding industry. If you’ve never heard of it, a “first look” is when a groom sees his bride in all of her wedding day glory for the very first time. Photographers like to capture this special moment so the couple can cherish it forever.

But one bride, Ashley Sedar, had her wedding photographer take that tradition in a different direction. Instead of capturing the look on the face of Sedar’s husband-to-be, she snapped some sweet shots of Sedar’s brother.

Sedar asked her talented photographer, Kelsey Watroba, to shoot the moment her brother Nick Rice first laid eyes on her. Rice is one of the most important people in Sedar’s life, and she says that he “wears his emotions on his sleeve.” This is made clear by the utter love and excitement shining from his face when he sees his sister in her bridal gown.

The powerful moment has touched many people. When Watroba shared the images on social media, they quickly went viral. They have since been shared over 14,000 times and counting.

“Before the ceremony, these two carved out a moment to spend together,” writes Watroba on Facebook. “And it was so special and pure. Nick had some very heartfelt thoughts to share with his sister. When I tell you, that there was not a dry eye in the room… oh yes I was right along with them in tears.”

Sedar admits that Rice was at first a bit hesitant about his sister getting married. He felt some natural sadness at the transition. But he quickly formed a strong bond with her husband, Brian. And as you can see from the photographs of him with his sister, Rice is genuinely excited about this new chapter in Sedar’s life.

“You are the most indescribable person in the world,” he told her after seeing her in her gown.

You can see more of the gorgeous pictures here. But maybe grab a box of tissues first.
