Now that Christmas is a week away, you’ve probably decked the halls, trimmed the tree and hung the stockings. But have you considered updating your beauty routine to match the festive holiday atmosphere?

There are many ways to bring the holiday cheer to your personal style. We’ve indulged in candy cane eyeliner. We’ve tried out ugly Christmas sweater nails and Christmas tree hair. Admittedly, those ideas may have been a bit too extreme. Thankfully, this year’s newest trend is much more down-to-earth than a literal tree on your head, but it’s no less festive.

Christmas Cheer

The hair trend to pull off just in time for Christmas is a vivid hair color combining red, green and gold. Jasmine VanAmburg created this Christmas-inspired ‘do, and Allure later spotted it on her Instagram. It certainly is eye-catching:

VanAmburg is a colorist and nail artist who works at the Rock Your Locks salon in Saginaw, Michigan. What inspired her bold choice?

“I was looking for something fun and festive for the holidays. The color combination of red, green, and gold represent the holidays perfectly,” VanAmburg told Allure.

Technique Tips

VanAmburg used Pulp Riot Hair products and a blending technique to eliminate harsh lines and spots. If you want the same effect, you can request your stylist bricklayer a combination of 1/2- to 1-inch horizontal and vertical sections. But be prepared to sit there for the long haul. VanAmburg said the whole process, from lightening the hair color to styling, took a whopping five hours.

The result is a gorgeous combination of all the colors of Christmas. It manages to be spirited and sophisticated simultaneously.

With the addition of a poinsettia flower and snowflakes to the curled, half updo, the look was complete. VanAmburg posted the photo to her Instagram account with a memorable “Elf” quote.

It’s no surprise she’s received rave reviews on her photo. One commenter said, “This is really giving me Christmas feels.” Another called the style “inspiring work.”
