This Colorado hotel is hiring a butler to look after its dog mascot

Between snowy mountains and a resort stay, what more could a vacation lover in Aspen want? Maybe it’s to work full-time as the Fur Butler for Kitty, the St. Regis Aspen’s Bernese mountain dog mascot. Kitty is hiring!

This job requires helping Kitty with his typical daily duties: daily walks, airport pickups, playdates, property tours and pet amenity deliveries. You’d asssit Kitty in hosting kids’ storytimes, attending community events, giving good-night nuzzles and welcoming guests to the property, too. Also, the Fur Butler coordinates the hotel’s monthly Bark ‘n’ Brew event, a party on the patio for hotel guests and community members.

According to the Facebook posting, the role is a full-time hourly position that reports to the front office team. the Fur Butler will work closely with the director of marketing.

Sounds like the perfect gig, right?

Here’s a picture of your potential future furry charge, enjoying a dog’s life out by the pool, as posted to his personal Instagram page at @kittythebernese:

“The Fur Butler’s success is rooted in a deep passion for animals, service, uncompromising standards, the ability to anticipate needs, and impeccable interpersonal skills,” the posting notes.

Additionally, the hotel is looking for someone who has an interest in photography and social media. Presumably, you’ll be helping to manage Kitty’s Intagram feed with its 42.8K followers.

You have to follow two steps to apply. The first is to post a video or photo to Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #kittysfurbutler which demonstrates why Kitty should choose you to work in Aspen with him.

“Kitty would love to know what makes you the purr-fect person,” says the posting.

Once you do that, email your resume to kitty@stregis.com and include your social media handles. Then, fingers crossed — Kitty will be in touch.

The story behind bringing Kitty to the hotel is steeped in history. John Jacob Astor IV, who founded the original St. Regis in New York City in 1904, had a dog named Kitty. To honor his legacy, the Aspen resort decided to name this Bernese mountain dog after the original pup.

Kitty Jacob Astor II arrived in Aspen in September of 2018 and was officially introduced at the Resort’s tree lighting where Santa delivered him as a gift. He’s a bit bigger now, but he’s still one cool cat (so to speak):
