This Company Can Turn Your Backyard Into A Beach

It gives "staycation" a whole new meaning!

Who hasn’t dreamed of having a beachfront property? If the allure of living just steps from a beach paradise is something that appeals to you, but you can’t quite swing the price tag that comes along with it (or you happen to live in a completely land-locked area), you might still have an option.

Thanks to the Louisiana-based Zydeco Construction, you can get a little slice of beach life right in your own backyard. The company specializes in creating man-made “beaches” that consist of blue “swimming ponds” surrounded by sand. These tiny beaches look like they belong in the Caribbean, but can be installed in residential backyards.

The best part? You can get one starting at around $20,000, which is not far off from the national average cost to build a standard-size in-ground pool, which clocks in at $22,000. There are a lot of interesting pool designs out there that can make your home feel more like a resort, but I have to say I’ve never seen one that seems so much like a real beach.

We would staycation all the time if we had one of these in our backyard!

Eric White started Zydeco Construction to fulfill a lifelong dream of using his construction skills as an outlet for his creative ideas. The company also installs in-ground trampolines and outdoor kitchens and offers drainage solutions for homes that have flooding problems.

“It has always been a dream of mine to do these different things,” White told USA Today. “I am all about figuring out a way to make things happen. I can look at any situation and come up with a way to fix it. I like to stay in the market for things that most companies don’t offer, especially custom requests.”

Although there are other companies around the country that offer similar products to White’s, he says his ponds are differentiated from the competition thanks to his patented specialty pump. He also prides himself on his ability to work closely with the customer to customize their pond to their particular specifications and property.

“It’s something that for years I would think to myself, ‘What if someone could figure out a way to turn a pond into a paradise?’” White said. “I did as much research as I could and applied it to building these ponds.”

We’d say he’s nailed it!

While White makes his backyard “beaches” for a living, some people have taken the DIY approach to create a backyard hideaway for their own use. This 500,000-gallon pool in Tennessee, which can also be rented out for parties, is a great example.

There’s also this massive swimming pond in Canada. Take a look at the stunning swimming hole, shared on YouTube by Prairie Farm Report:

Would you consider turning your backyard into a beach with one of these swimming ponds?
