Getting food delivered is one of the greatest joys in life, one that not all are privileged enough to experience. But one delivery man in the Phillippines went out of his way to make sure an old lady got to enjoy this simple pleasure, and his good deed proves that kindness still exists!

Delivery man Elpegie Palmares Sicor was just doing his job and delivering food in Bacolod to resident Maris Mayol Tian, who had ordered food from a restaurant called Jollibee. During the delivery, an older woman, Tian’s neighbor, known as Nanay, stopped him and asked if she could buy any food that he had, too.

Sicor tried to explain that he only had food from a specific order, but she didn’t seem to understand. So, he called the restaurant and placed an order for her.

Tian caught the sweet gesture on camera and posted the photo to Facebook:

“I honestly thought he would just ignore her, laugh and be on his way, but he actually took out his own cell phone, dialed a number, and ordered for her,” she wrote. She went on to note, “There was a time when I hated Jollibee’s delivery service because they messed up a few times, but now I think I’m going to order more delivery from them. #KudosDeliveryGuy.”

Little did she know, her cute story was going to make a major impact online. The post earned over 340,000 shares and just over 50,000 shares.

“I didn’t expect anything like this to happen,” Tian told BuzzFeed. “But it’s a nice feeling when you get to share good vibes and positivity with people you don’t know.”

She also said the delivery man’s gesture touched her, which is why she decided to share it in the first place. “I found that really cute,” Tian said of his act of kindness. “Not a lot of young people pay attention to old people, but he did, so I ran inside the house to look for my phone and took a photo.”

And as for the delivery guy, he says he was just doing his job. “It’s my job, customer service,” he told BuzzFeed. He also said he was surprised to learn his story had gone viral, as he hadn’t realized Tian had caught the moment on camera.

Meanwhile, people online can’t help but point out how nice it was for Sicor to help out this 92-year-old woman. “That is the sweetest,” one Facebook comment read. Another person wrote, “Faith in humanity restored.”

Others also praised the driver and his show of empathy for the elderly lady. “The driver had compassion and that’s really commendable,” a commenter wrote.

This story is the perfect example of how the smallest gestures can make a big impact. So keep that in mind the next time you’re tipping your delivery guy!
