Avocado lovers (a.k.a. everyone) will be excited to know that “long neck” avocados, ranging in size from 18 inches to 3 feet in length, exist and can be purchased by the box.

Photos from the Miami Fruit farm began circulating online recently, which brought attention to these very special avocados. But according to the farmers, these avocados have been in the Miami region for years. Sounds like you better start making up for lost time!

This video posted to the Miami Fruit Instagram account got the attention of over 50,000 viewers when it was posted online, namely due to the fact that the sheer size of the avocado is hard to believe:

While these have become known as long neck avocados, Slate points out that these avocados are actually Pura Vida avocados, from a tree known for bearing gourd-like avocados. According to Edelle Schlegel, the co-founder of Miami Fruit, their shape isn’t the only thing that’s unique. These avocados have a slightly different taste than the ones you’re used to picking up at the grocery store.

“Our long neck avocados are thick, creamy, savory and slightly sweet,” Schlegel told “Today.”

Can you imagine the massive amounts of delicious guacamole you could make with avocados like these?

If you’re dying to give these avocados a try, there’s some good and some bad news. The good news is that you can order boxes of these long neck avocados and get them shipped to you from Miami Fruit. The bad news, however, is that the season for avocados have come to an end, so you’ll have to wait until next year to get your fix.

Miami Fruit told “Today” that avocado boxes are available for pre-order for next season. Prices start at $47 for a small box, containing 3–6 pounds of avocados. Pricing and weight options increase all the way to a bulk option for $197, containing 35–45 pounds.

Already planning all of the avocado yumminess you’ll prepare with next year’s order? Here are a few recipe ideas to inspire your avocado-eating explorations.
