This ‘Gilmore Girls’ star is launching his own coffee brand

Any “Gilmore Girls” fan will tell you that it’s impossible to watch the show without craving a gigantic, hot cup of coffee. Lorelai and Rory’s day revolves around caffeine consumption, and it’s honestly tough to find a scene where they’re not perched at the counter of Luke’s Diner begging for a refill, or walking around town gripping a to-go cup bearing Luke’s logo.

Thanks to the Gilmore girls’ coffee obsession (and of course, that whole multi-season romance with Lorelai), the character Luke Danes has become one of the world’s most well-known and beloved coffee slingers. Turns out the actor who plays Luke, Scott Patterson, is really into coffee too. So much so that he’s in the process of starting his own coffee company. In real life.

In an interview with Wealthmanagement.com, Patterson revealed that he’s developing a coffee brand called Scotty P’s Big Mug Coffee. “We’re almost ready to launch,” he told the site, “but we want to have our ducks in a row before we come out with it. Quality coffee is something that I am obsessed with. It’s the thing I look forward to every morning and throughout the day and throughout the evening and now throughout the middle of the night.”

Patterson’s coffee brand will join a growing list of “Gilmore Girls”-themed coffee enterprises, which currently includes Luke’s Diner K-cups and a Stars Hollow Coffee Club subscription service. When Netflix released its revival of “Gilmore Girls,” coffee shops across the country transformed into versions of Luke’s Diner for the day and gave out free coffee to celebrate. Patterson himself showed up at one of the pop-ups in Beverly Hills, delighting fans and coffee enthusiasts alike.

If Patterson is even half as good as his on-screen character when it comes to selling coffee, then his business is sure to be a huge success. And if he needs some help getting things off the ground, we know a guy named Kirk who’s always looking for work…
