Here’s Why ‘This Is Us’ Cast Members gave up their plus-ones at the SAG awards
As if you weren’t already completely smitten with the Pearson family on- and off-screen, you’re about to love the “This Is Us” cast even more. You may have noticed that some of the cast members opted to go without a plus-one date to the SAG Awards. When you find out the reason… well, let’s just say your heart might melt. Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley gave up their dates so they could take the youngest “This Is Us” stars with them instead. Now, it doesn’t get cuter than that!
Metz had Mackenzie Hancsicsak, who plays the youngest version of Kate on the show, by her side on the red carpet:
Hartley had Parker Bates, who acts as the youngest Kevin, as a stylish sidekick:
And don’t worry, Lonnie Chavis, who plays young Randall, was there, too — looking totally adorable in the spotlight.
Hancsicsak tweeted an explanation that the youngest “This Is Us” actors hadn’t appeared in enough episodes to get an invite on their own and she thanked Metz for “graciously and selflessly” bringing her along for the evening.
Just want 2 thank Miss @ChrissyMetz again 4 very graciously & selflessly giving up her plus one so I could attend the SAG awards. Some of the kid ensemble didn’t appear in enough episodes 2 qualify, but when the adults found out, they stepped up & offered their plus one. Thank U! pic.twitter.com/P3DJ58CClU

This just goes to show that the “This Is Us” cast sticks together!
Perhaps even more surprising than seeing mini-versions of the stars on the red carpet is the fact that Metz, Moore and Susan Kelechi Watson, who plays Beth, all showed up wearing vibrant blue dresses — without planning it. Impressive!

“Oh and this was NOT planned. The Pearson ladies all showed in the same shade of blue by pure coincidence,” Moore explained on Instagram. “I love my fearless, gorgeous, wildly talented sisters,” she continued. “Couldn’t have been more honored to have matched them last night.”
After all of that coordinating to have as much of the full cast there as possible, the cast went on to win the most incredible award of the evening: Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
If you haven’t heard the acceptance speech cast member Milo Ventimiglia gave, by the way, it’s worth a listen. But make sure you’ve got tissues handy. Because seriously, these people are too sweet!
Congratulations to “This Is Us” on their well-deserved win!
