This man’s mesmerizing machine serves cake in the coolest way possible

There’s a reason everyone loves cake. In addition to the fact that it tastes delicious, a cake usually signals a celebration. Birthdays, weddings and other happy occasions usually involve cake, and even if you’re indulging in cake just because (which I highly recommend, by the way), its mere presence makes it feel like a celebration.

While I might argue that there’s no wrong way to serve cake, one guy invented a contraption for serving the dessert that takes it to a whole other level. The creator’s amazing invention has to be seen to be believed. Check it out in action in the video below:

While his method takes awhile, it certainly seems worth it!

Josheph Herscher, who lives in Brooklyn, New York, took three months to create his epic machine.

“The most complex part was the beginning, where a cup spills and rolls off the table, landing perfectly on a platform and allowing all the spilled juice to pour back in! This took me two weeks to perfect,” Herscher told Food52.

The zany cake server is far from the only amazing amazing contraption Herscher has built. His YouTube channel, Joseph’s Machines, is filled with videos showing off his wacky inventions. According to his website, Herscher made his first machine when he was just 5 years old. It was called the Lolly Machine.

Herscher refers to many of his devices as “Rube Goldberg Machines,” which is a reference to the famous cartoonist who depicted gadgets similar to the ones Herscher makes. Such machines were meant to perform simple tasks — in particularly convoluted, yest mesmerizing, ways.
