This Milwaukee Brewers spring training video is a hilarious spoof of ‘Mean Girls’

With baseball season on the horizon, it’s time to get excited about the crack of the bat, no-hitters and Cracker Jack snacks.

The Milwaukee Brewers are certainly doing their part to get us into the mood! Their social media team just released a new spring training video that’s also an on-point spoof of the 2004 movie “Mean Girls.”

Specifically, the baseball team has re-created the cafeteria scene, in which the Plastics have lunch with Cady. In this version, recently-signed catcher Yasmani Grandal plays the role of the new kid, following in Lindsay Lohan’s footsteps. The Plastics are played by Jeremy Jeffress, Josh Hader and Brent Suter as the Regina George character. Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun play the guys at the “MVP table,” whom Grandal snubs to sit with Suter, Jeffress and friends. Team manager Craig Counsell also makes an appearance. Other players appear as members of different lunchroom cliques.

Perfect, right? But this isn’t the Brewers’ first ball game when it comes to spoofing films on social media. In June 2018, it was a send-off of “Dumb and Dumber.”

And in March of last year at around this time, the team did one for “The Sandlot.” Fitting, right?

Actually, it seems pretty popular to spoof “Mean Girls” these days. Ariana Grande did it too, earlier this year, in her video for “thank u, next.” She tapped one of her former “Victorious” co-stars, Elizabeth Gillies, to play Cady.

But we kinda like that these pro baseball guys are getting into the “Mean Girls” spirit as a way of generating fan momentum for the Major League Baseball season, which begins on March 28. The Brewers play St. Louis at home at Miller Park that day.
