This Pickle Cheeseball is the ultimate appetizer

The Little Dairy On The Prairie

If you’re looking for something delicious and savory to serve at your next dinner party, we have the crowd-pleasing outlier appetizer you never knew you needed on the table: pickle cheese dip.

This dill pickle cheese dip recipe is far from the traditional cheese log your family is familiar with. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing — especially for all of the pickle lovers out there.

This recipe from Little Dairy On The Prairie combines cream cheese, dill spice, dill pickles and other ingredients. And considering that it can be served with bagel chips, pretzels, crackers, baguettes, potato chips and more, it’s sure to be the perfect addition to all of your typical snacks.

Not only does this sound like the salty appetizer you’ve been craving, but it’s also super easy to make. All you have to do is combine the ingredients, roll the mixture into a ball and chill it in the fridge before serving. Once the dip is ready to eat, serve it alongside crackers or whatever snack food you prefer:

If the above isn’t unique enough, you can really push the envelope by following the recipe from Apples for CJ, which also calls for hot sauce. A “couple dashes” of the spicy sauce will add even more of a kick to this spread, making it more interesting — especially when served alongside more traditional dishes, such as the deviled eggs your aunt always brings to brunch spreads.

And if you think this dip sounds so good, you could practically eat it by the spoonful — well, you aren’t alone. There are some other pickle-obsessive folks out there who are one step ahead of the rest of us and decided to create a version of this that can be enjoyed by the slice.

That’s right. Pickle Cheesecake exists, and it’s the natural next step for this savory dish. The recipe comes from Delish and calls for a pretzel crust topped with the ultimate savory, salty batter. It requires cream cheese, goat cheese, pickle juice, garlic cloves and more. Once baked, you can cut into cakes and serve it all on its own.

This video from the Delish YouTube channel will show you how to create this out-of-the-ordinary spin on cheesecake:

Put a twist on tradition with any of these pickle-filled recipes. You never know — this could be such a hit that it becomes part of the appetizer rotation every year.

Finally, a win for the pickle lovers out there!
