Two students from ECAL, a university in Switzerland, have teamed up to create a product that allows you to do two relaxing things at once for the ultimate calming experience.

Not only can you take a load off by sitting in a rocking chair, you can also get some knitting done at the same time. But, even the knitting part doesn’t involve much effort on your end. That’s right— this rocking chair does the work for you. So, even non-knitters can enjoy this piece of furniture.

Besides, young and old alike, enjoy swaying back and forth in a rocking chair, right? This invention gives you the perfect excuse to sit around all day long.

As an added bonus, you can feel productive while rocking away. Need some beanies made up by the time winter hits? Just spend some time in this chair. It’s as simple as that.

This low-tech piece of furniture was created by Damien Ludi and Colin Peillex which is, all jokes aside, seriously perfect for your grandmother. It’d also fit nicely inside a nursery. Just think how nice it’d be to rock your baby to sleep, all while knitting them a hat.

The technology behind the chair is simple. It’s the back and forth motion that generates the gears controlling the spool of thread. Each sway is another loop of knitted completed. While it may not be fast, it is efficient. And, if you ask me, someone like me, it sure beats actually learning how to knit.
