This s’mores martini is perfect for drinking around the campfire

Just like pretty much every other human being on the planet, I love a good cookout — the smell of meat and vegetables sizzling on the BBQ grill, the four different potato salads because everyone made one, the casual and fun vibe. Oh, and there’s my ultimate favorite: the drinks.

Personally, I am of the opinion that a barbecue is not really complete unless there is a signature cocktail. If the party goes into the evening, a campfire (and more drinks) is required as well. Of course, if you have a campfire, the next logical step is to make s’mores, because without them, is it even summer at all?

Even better, how about a combination of all of this? If you love this idea, check out the S’mores Martini from the Sugar Factory at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut — it’s a must-try this summer! Consider it the ultimate signature cocktail for your barbecue and the perfect drink for enjoying around a fire pit.

The martini can be made alcoholic or non-alcoholic, so s’mores fans of all ages can enjoy it. If you’ll be making the adult-friendly version, you’ll need Licor 43, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur and Van Gogh Chocolate Vodka, plus other essentials like toasted marshmallow syrup and chocolate milk.

Both versions also call for garnishing the rim with chocolate syrup and graham cracker crumbs and swirling the glass with chocolate syrup. If you want to get extra fancy (and who doesn’t?!), throw three large marshmallows on a pick, lightly toast the outside and put them on top of the martini.

Put three large marshmallows on a pick (push through the center of marshmallow), lightly toast the outside of the marshmallows and place across the top of the martini.

It’s as easy as that!

Want some more s’mores? Of course you do. Luckily, there are so many recipes for everything from s’mores cupcakes to s’mores in dip form, you could easily enjoy a new s’mores-inspired treat every week this summer and still not run out.

You could also go a healthier route and make campfire strawberries instead. All you need is strawberries and marshmallow fluff and you can probably guess what happens next. Just skewer a strawberry and dip it in the fluff. Then hold it over an open flame and toast the marshmallow!

What do you think? Could this s’mores martini be the hit of your next summer shindig?
